The Kudu horn is the most popular and most common of all exotic shofarot. Traditionally used by Yeminite Jews, Kudu horns have grown in popularity with all sects of Jews over the past century, being used in high holy days services across the world. Two species of Kudu exist, the Lesser and the Greater Kudu, with the later being what is most commonly used for shofarot and what can be found here. The Greater Kudu is one of the largest antelope in alive today and its horns reflect this.
The horns for sale here, a pair rescued from an old piece of taxidermy in poor condition, are about as large as the horn of any animal can get. They are truly amazing shofarot with a superb sound. Each horn has an impressive 4 separate tones and measures 110cm/43" along the curve or 91cm/36" tip to tip.
As with all our shofarot, these horns are hand made finished with a natural vegetable oil coating. We take care to boil our horns before production to ensure they are fully sterile and take every precaution to make sure they are 100% kosher.
Our signature natural finish retains the beauty of the horn while keeping it still somewhat smooth to the touch. Unlike other, mirror polished shofarot, you can see the grain, the imperfections, the ridges and valleys on every one of our shofarot.
All our shofarot make perfects gitfts, be they wedding presents, bar/batmitzvah presents or any other special occasion.
Please note the shofar pictured above is only one of a pair of horns and so may differ very slightly from the product you receive.
